Campus Cooks Pilot Programs "Go Green"
Campus Cooks is continually looking to enhance the Greek Experience by improving the wellness of every chapter we serve. With that in mind, there are several pilot programs in the early stages of development that will help enhance the environmental wellness of the chapters that we serve.
In an effort to “go green” and help become more responsible when it comes to the environment, they include:
Biodegradable Foam Cups for Beverage Service
- The benefits include biodegradable foam that degrades 92% over 4 years. Styrofoam does not biodegrade. Currently, 30% of landfill trash in the United States is composed of Styrofoam and other plastics.
- These new cups have the same functionality, and hot and cold applications as normal Styrofoam.
Reusable "To Go" Containers to Replace Disposables
- The benefits include the reduction of trash and offering a safe alternative: microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and BPA free.
Replacing Styrofoam Plates and Bowls with Paper
- The benefits include the use of paper, which will decompose in 2 – 6 weeks in a landfill. Remember, Styrofoam does not decompose.
