National Pumpkin Day: A New Recipe

Of course, October is known for anything and everything that has to do with pumpkins. One might say that people are obsessed with all things pumpkin when the calendar strikes October 1st. This is typically because it signifies Fall, Halloween, or soon to come Thanksgiving.

Although all of October is celebrated as pumpkin month, October 26th is recognized as National Pumpkin Day in the United States. For the month of October many families take the time to visit Pumpkin Patches. Pumpkins are used to carve and decorate the house with, but are also used for cooking around this time of year.

Below is a recipe to help celebrate the holidays without feeling guilty for eating dessert. Instead of using flower and eggs to satisfy your next chocolate craving, use pumpkin to give you the same results with less guilt. Take this chocolatey & delicious recipe with you and surprise your friends with the ingredients inside!

 

RECIPE

EASY & MINIMAL

1 box of Devil’s Food Cake Mix (Chocolate)

15oz can of pure pumpkin purée

½ cups of water

¼ cup of mini chocolate chips (Optional, but highly recommended)

 

Bake as a cake, muffins, or cupcakes at 350° in the oven for 30-35 minutes, time varies based on oven!
