Celebrate “National Grilled Cheese Month” Around The World!

by | Apr 1, 2019

Celebrating “National Grilled Cheese Month” seems like a “no brainer”. EVERYONE loves a good grilled cheese sandwich!

With that being said, here are a few grown-up, fancied up, grilled cheese combinations:

While grilled cheese seems very American, there are actually a variety of grilled cheese around the world:

Quesadilla (Mexico)
This Mexican sandwich consists of tortillas, melted cheese, and often different types of fillings like chorizo, nopales, grilled chicken or spicy peppers.

Croque Monsieur (France)
The French have a way with cheese, showcased nowhere better than the Croque Monsieur. The combination of a well-made béchamel with nutty Gruyere cheese, salty ham, and a dab of nose-searing mustard is both indulgent and comforting.

Caprese Panini (Italy)
Acidic tomatoes, creamy mozzarella cheese, and pungent basil result in a burst of Italian flavor. Add imported prosciutto for a salty bite.

Welsh Rarebit (England)
A roux is combined with sharp cheddar cheese, beer, and some mustard before being ladled on toasted bread and broiled. This is traditional English food – pungent, simple, and immensely satisfying. Be sure to use the sharpest cheddar cheese you can find.

Do you have a favorite grilled cheese selection from around the around? We’d love to hear from you!
